This is a good product. The thingie at the handle end pulls out to lock the tongs closed so they take up less space and store easier.Get 'em, before you handle another sausage.
Holding the 2 side by side it's clear that the new one is made less sturdy and feels flimsier. I recently purchased a pair of the 12" tongs to go along with a pair I bought from OXO a few years ago. First off, the new pair is noticeably lighter. While it's still one of the better tongs on the market for the price, I'm disappointed in the drop in quality. I've read that OXO has outsourced some of their products to China and it clearly shows as I have no doubt that my original OXO pair will outlive my new one.
This is a must have in any kitchen. Easy to handle, inexpensive and so versatile.
Bought these as a gift when old tongs fell apart. Love the OXO brand in general and usually buy them at Target or BB&B. These tongs are easy to lock and unlock and the grip handles are comfortable and do not move after washing in the dishwasher. Great overall and I'd recommend to others.
